Today March 24th, 2020, it’s my birthday!
It’s a day that I usually really enjoy. I also take this opportunity to thank once again that I’m healthy, I have a job, I have my family and special people who are by my side, still in the distance. Oh and all the demonstrations of affection, love, good wishes and others, are all well received.
I am thankful for this, because I am aware that the current situation makes us rethink what we assume to be safe or what seems to be our everyday routine.
These weeks I’ve avoided going out, as far as possible, applying the coronavirus prevention practices (COVID-19). I don’t go to the office, or the gym or meetings, or many other activities that I used to do before. In other words, I’m just trying not to expose myself.
In this situation that we are living, clearly there are many factors of which, for my part, I have no control. But there are many others that I can influence, for example: my attitude.
How to react to each of these new obstacles, how to control my mood, how I stay active and optimistic, even when the space or conditions are limited. But of course, I have the internet! Oh, in these times, that is a great help!
Perhaps this day is not as I had thought. Definitely my most recent plans didn’t materialize (for now). But life is uncertain. So much that a few days ago I was climbing in the town of Tepoztlán, (and it should be specified that I did reach the top); And now we are living in a state of worldwide disruption that nobody imagined. Everything is changing and will do even more.
Either way, we have to adapt and not lose our smile. As my grandfather Juan said: «as long as there is life, let everything flow.» So today I will smile because I have been very blessed and fortunately I can celebrate one more year of life and very happy.
I still have a lot to do, know, learn and many more experiences to live and share. Hopefully many more years to come.
Happy Birthday to me!
