I recently read a phrase that I really liked and it seemed very accurate. This phrase expresses that life is made up of chapters and you cannot modify them or delete those that have already been created. What you can do is write new ones.

Personally, it seemed like a good comparison, perhaps for some it sounds more than typical or in fact, we have all heard a phrase like that. However, I like seeing our lives as if they were chapters of a book. Inevitably you will have to turn the page to advance, and keep going until you get to the end.

We have to accept how we’re always wanting to control everything. Working towards perfection and to meet all expectations. We’ve been taught to look good, perform our best, and stand out whenever is possible.

What we sometimes forget is to tolerate frustration, mistakes or disappointments; and many other aspects that would seem negative. Although, these are key times for growth. As well as for learning and to acquire many other virtues that we develop over the years.

Have you ever read a book that tells you everything at the beginning without chapters? A book in which only the character appears and suddenly you’ve already looking at the end page?

Just like in any book, so is our life. We forget that this strong word: «failure» is part of the other word that we love: «success.» We cannot have one, if we have not overcome the other …

The word success comes from the Latin word exitus, which means exit or result. Therefore, don’t you think it’s logical that in order to get out, first you have to get in?

Failure is part of success. You fell to get up, you cried to smile, after the storm comes the sun and so on, in all those phrases that we already know. Neither «failure» nor «success» are permanent. They go hand in hand and arrive one after the other to switch places. No one is perfect or outstanding at absolutely everything. Let’s forget the absolutes …

Remember, we are here to grow and learn. To try to be our best version. Which means that we have to acknowledge our demons, mistakes, weaknesses, and so on. Not only recognize, rather, accept it.

More obstacles will always come. At least, whenever you want to get to the next chapter …

Do not be discouraged. I have also felt disappointed, or sad or even distressed thinking that I have many flaws or insecurities. Thinking that every time I try to move forward, I loose all the journey I had advanced already. And you know what? It’s normal and it’s totally okay. Because this means that I’m still moving, and only then, will I get to another point.

Let’s keep writing new chapters, without fear. Let’s see what happens and how far we can go. Dare to pass the obstacles… to discover what happens next.
