And she said “They were really nice” as if being nice is rare. However, it is somewhat scant. That’s really sad, don’t you think?
It is a reflection of how wrong is it, that we’re not used to being well treated, on the opposite, we’re starting to accept how others may look at us different because of our looks. It could be hairstyle, what you’re wearing, your shoes… well…There is a non-ending list of the motives that some people choose to criticize with no reason. But if we already know it is not right, then why do we keep doing it? What do we get by hurting or interfering in other people lives?
We’re living in the era of technologies, and progress in many ways, a presumed time of freedom… But what’s the true cost of it, of freedom… For me, it seems like if we were back in the 50’s where they could arrest you for your skin color, or when women were not able to speak and vote…
Naturally, society is heterogeneous. A bit obvious, so, how is it possible to even consider that we should all think the same, act or believe the same way…? Tolerance for the plurality is the key for a life of peace. It is foolish to think that every single person in this world would act the same… in my opinion, it is not about being best friends, but it truly is about tolerance, and most important, respecting each other’s decision as individuals.
However, when I say respect, it is not about saying that you respect and understand others and then complete the phrase with the word “but…”just to finish and offend or criticize indirectly. I’m not saying I’m the role model, of course not. I know I’ve made a long list of mistakes and I’ve said and done some things that I honestly regret. That’s what this is all about, not stopping there, but keep learning, and growing in this personal way but also with others.
I’ve no words to describe what the recent events have been…Heartbraking and speechless, those are the reactions of people who have been directly affected and for those who weren’t, we’re sorry for every loss and we’re together through this. It is a horrible reality to wake up in the morning, watch or listen to the news talking about acts of hate and with nothing but bad intentions.
We shouldn’t live watching over someone else’s life, just to criticize who they love, how the live, what do the believe in… Because, who has the reason?… I think the person living the right way is the one living a simple and full life, enjoying its own, without hurting others.
Nobody should be afraid of living, of going out in public, of holding someone’s hand… Maybe there are many encouraging hate, but I believe, and I truly support love, that’s why I write, maybe this is not much, but for me, it is the way to say that I believe in people thinking and living different. I can assure there are others hoping and supporting for the best.
We share the same world, we all want a good life, and we all want to enjoy our time here. We all have and deserve the same rights. Because if we’re using and applying the word Freedom, then, we all should think before we speak and certainly before we act.
Year 2016…Instead of going back in time, dehumanizing our present… We need to push forward for tolerance, growth, respect, comprehension and acceptance…
